Book Review

A collection of original riddles, each with a homonym pair as the answer: bizarre bazaar, knight night, bare bear, foul fowl, etc. The entire book is filled with this type of word play: the riddle, with the answer in homonyms wonderfully illustrated by Giulio Maestro. The clever use of words makes for funny reading out loud, whilst the illustrations keep the attention of the children who are too young read, even though they may not fully understand the joke embedded in the homonyms. This book is a worthwhile addition to the library of the young reader. Very useful for teaching children the difference between words that sound the same, but are spelled differently and with such a fun book they should enjoy learning too.
