Zo's Palindromes: P.A.L.I.N.D.R.O.M.E by Derek Chin and Diana Chin Book ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook Review
Zo's Palindromes The subtitle of this book spells PALINDROME: Perfectly Arranged Letters, Incredibly Natural, Dramatically Reversed, Obviously Magically Enlightening! That is an apt description of this volume. Contained within its 380 pages are over six thousand original palindromes, and some of the best ever invented. Chin is a natural at creating natural-sounding palindromic sentences: ET is drawn in at an inward site, Stunt: New Yorker trek Roy went nuts, and some that are much, much longer. Many of the palindromes are poetic and philosophical. On the back cover of the book, Derrel Sims describes first getting to know Derek Chin: "I learned of his remarkable ability to create palindromes. I have never seen anyone in Mensa, Intertel or other high IQ societies, who could create palindromes instantaneously and in such incredible volume." This truly unique book cannot be passed by by any true word lover.

Palindromes and Anagrams by Howard W. Bergerson Book ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook Review
Palindromes and Anagrams Howard Bergerson's Palindromes and Anagrams is an important book in the world of palindromes. The author is a former editor of Word Ways and so the book is fairly comprehensive. There are many examples of palindromes, including Palindromic Poetry and Vocabularyclept Poetry (using the words of one poem to create another).
It also covers several other subjects related to wordplay. There is an excellent introduction to multi-word anagrams as well as a list of over one thousand examples mostly drawn from pre-1930 sources.

Palindromania! by Jon Agee Book ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook Review
Palindromania! This collection of some 170 illustrated palindromes follows in the style of Agee's five earlier works on wordplay. Many of the illustrations in Palindromania! are in comic strip format. In one of the hilarious cartoons, the first frame depicts a fat inmate escaping from Lew's Diet Prison. An angry prison guard shouts "Hey! Obese boy! Eh!" He is joined by a second guard to whom he says "Well, let's tell Lew." In the final frame the two officers are shown explaining to their boss: "We lost a fatso, Lew." There is no end to Agee's creativeness. He even coins a new word, aibophobia, meaning unusual fear of palindromes. The blend of wordplay and nonsensical illustrations will appeal to adults and children alike.

Mad Amadeus Sued a Madam by Allan Miller, Lee Lorenz (Illustrator) and Roger Angell (Introduction) Book ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook ReviewBook Review
Mad Amadeus Sued a Madam Mad Amadeus Sued a Madam is a book for both aficionado and beginner, a delightful compendium of "a furtive collection of letters which, weirdly and all on its own, resembles itself perfectly when looked at from the other end." As the synopsis says: "The refined world of the collector of palindromes is a world where a gem such as Sununu's Tonsil is not Sununu's provides the kind of satisfaction that the rest of the world would get from discovering life on another planet. Allan Miller's often dotty combinations are illustrated and expanded upon by New Yorker cartoonist Lee Lorenz."
